Zalando opened its first logistics centre near Szczecin, which will serve customers from 17 European markets.
The logistics centre is located in Gardno in the municipality of Gryfino. The facility has 130,000 sqm of space and is one of the largest in Poland. It is equipped with the most modern solutions, including two five-storey high storage towers, which can hold up to several million pieces of goods. The new centre will handle orders from Poland, Germany, Austria, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Nordic countries. It is managed by an external subcontractor, Fiege, which employs nearly 1,000 employees for the needs of its service.
In the near future Zalando is preparing to open another two centres in Poland: near Łódź and in Olsztynek, which will handle the deliveries of the Zalando Lounge shopping club. The launch of both facilities is planned for 2019.
Zalando is a European fashion-lifestyle platform, which offers an assortment for over 25 million consumers in 17 markets.
The Fiege Group is one of the largest logistics service providers in Europe. It has a total warehouse space of 3 million sq.m and employs almost 13,000 people worldwide.
