Żabka Polska has opened its fifth logistics centre - the facility in Szałsza near Gliwice will supply a thousand shops from Silesia and the surrounding area. The investment created over 400 new jobs in the region.
The centre in Szałsza is one of the most modern logistics facilities of its kind, with a total investment area of approx. 25,000 sq. m, including 4,000 sq. m of controlled warehouse space. The warehouse will also provide space for nearly 18.5 thousand pallets. In the month, the centre will dispatch nearly 62 thousand cooling baskets, 20 thousand pallets, 16 thousand freezing containers and will handle deliveries to thousands of shops from southern Poland. The facility will also serve as a freezer for over 2,000 shops operated by the logistics centre in Tychy. The company's logistics infrastructure also includes logistics centres in Plewiska near Poznań, Nadarzyn near Warsaw and in Będzieszyn near Pruszcz Gdański. Żabka Polska also has 21 transhipment terminals.
- The location of the new centre is connected with the intensive development of the Żabka chain of shops in the south of Poland, especially in the Upper Silesian agglomeration and Kraków. The key factor in choosing this particular location was the short distance from the new centre to as many of our shops as possible - says Katarzyna Słabowska, Logistics Director at Żabka Polska.
The first Żabka shop in Silesia was established in 1999 in Dąbrowa Górnicza. Currently, the company employs nearly 3 thousand people in retail outlets and logistics centres in the region.
The transaction was mediated by Colliers International Poland.
