Ikea Industry has opened a new finished goods warehouse in Lubawa with an area of 26 thousand square meters. Thanks to this investment, the usable area of the facility has increased to almost 5 ha, and the total area of the facility under the roof has exceeded 18 ha.
Ikea Industry Lubawa is known for its production of lightweight furniture, which is based on a lightweight board with honeycomb filling. The new warehouse, built next to the Lublin plant, which has been operating since 1992, was built in connection with the increase in production and the need to improve the logistics process. Lubawa also acts as a consolidation point for Ikea's external suppliers. The new warehouse will be able to store furniture worth over PLN 49 million in 29 thousand pallet places in the block system.
- Every year we produce about 7.5 million products for Ikea shops all over the world, and 97% of our furniture goes beyond the borders of Poland - says Zbigniew Nikelewski, director of Ikea Industry in Lubawa.
The warehouse is a fully innovative investment, it uses, among other things, solutions reducing heat energy losses in winter - the building is lower, so as not to heat the empty space under the roof, it has also been fitted with destabilizers blown away the warm air from the upper part of the warehouse, and the whole area is divided into heating zones automatically controlled by the system. Great emphasis has been placed on electricity saving, from the use of LED lighting to power consumption monitoring. The highest safety standards have been introduced, e.g. loading docks are equipped with automatic vehicle locking systems. The warehouse also houses a device for exchanging paper pallets or a mobile film maker.
Ikea Industry, a member of the Inter Ikea Group, is the largest manufacturer of wooden furniture in the world. The company has 40 plants in 10 countries, which employ a total of about 19 thousand employees, of which about 10 thousand in Poland. Every year Ikea Industry produces over 100 million furniture, while the Polish division specializes in solid wood, lightweight and chipboard furniture.
