DPD Polska opened a sorting facility in Parzniew near Warsaw. The BTS facility with a warehouse space of approx. 11,000 sq. m and 3,000 sq. m of offices was built by Hillwood Polska as part of the Hillwood & PHN Pruszków park.
This is the second largest DPD facility in Poland after the central sorting plant in Stryków, owned by the company. Facility in Parzniew will serve the Warsaw region and north-eastern and eastern Poland from Olsztyn, through Ełk and Białystok in the north, to Kielce and Zamość in the south, i.e. approximately 30% of the company's shipment traffic. The target capacity will be up to 250 thousand parcels per day.
The construction of the Warsaw regional sorting plant is also part of DPD's plan to adapt the supply chain to the growing requirements of e-commerce. The sorting plant will support, among others, the network of municipal distribution points (depot) in Warsaw, which is being built by DPD. They have 80-100 sq.m each and occupy shop space with display windows and facilities that can be accessed by a delivery van. The company currently has seven such points, and the eighth one is in preparation. DPD plans to cover the whole of Warsaw with depots, so that the distance from the depot to the recipient of the shipment is not greater than 7 km. In such an area couriers will be able to move relatively easily on a scooter or bicycle.
- Distances covered by our fleet between the Warsaw regional sorting plant and branches are shorter, which makes current operations more efficient and profitable, as well as less polluting for the environment, which is one of the priorities of CSR for DPD - convinces Rafał Nawłoka, President of DPD Polska.
In the transaction, DPD was advised by Colliers.
