Panattoni Europe, Poland’s leader in the industrial space market, is developing a warehouse facility for Decathlon. The 32,000-square-metre investment is being built in Łódź, and its completion is planned for March 2017. It will be the company’s second central warehouse in Poland, dedicated to serving stationary stores as well as handling online retail.

The developer is building a 32,000-square-metre warehouse, with as much as 30,000 sqm of storage space, divided into 3 zones of 10,000 sqm each. Staff and office facilities will take up 1,000 sqm and the same amount of space will be earmarked for a workshop – to support the service function of Decathlon stores. LED lighting has been put into the entire facility, as well as additional skylights and windows which increase daylight penetration. As a point of interest, the investment will feature a 27 m x 12 m sports ground. The facility is being built in Łódź, a short distance from Panattoni Park Łódź East.
Decathlon has been present in Poland since 2001 – when its first store opened at CH Warszawa Targówek. Today, the chain comprises 46 brick-and-mortar stores throughout the country, while also running an online store, systematically implementing its motto “Sport for all – all for sport”. The company’s continued growth has made it necessary to go forward with the investment in Łódź. It will be Decathlon’s second warehouse in Poland, and it will serve the north of Poland and Scandinavia – both stationary stores and the e-commerce channel. Robert Dobrzycki, Chief Executive Officer Europe, Panattoni Europe comments: “This investment confirms our observations at Panattoni Europe about the market and the increasing share in it held by online sales, as well as the fact that Nordic countries are more and more often served from Poland. It is also of key significance for Łódź and the Central Poland region.” And he adds: “For these reasons, the location of the current investment at the intersection of two motorways – the A2 and particularly the A1, i.e. in Łódź – is not an accident”.
The facility for Decathlon boasts an excellent location – in the vicinity of the existing Panattoni Park Łódź East in the eastern part of Łódź, the Widzew-Olechów district at Aleja Ofiar Terroryzmu 11 Września, not far from the city centre (as little as 11 km away). The site is very well communicated with the city centre, making for an easy commute for the facility’s employees. Moreover, the Andrespol Junction of the A1 motorway (Gdańsk-Cieszyn) is quite close by and the A2 motorway, connecting Warsaw, Poznań and Berlin, also runs a short distance from the warehouse.
